What is your name and what do you do?

Hi, I’m Seema Chaudhary and I’m a Naturopath. I’ve been on a journey learning about naturopathy and complementary alternative medicine, medical herbalism and Ayurveda. Coming from a background in media publishing I found myself freelancing as a copyeditor for a major publishing house. I became interested in how food can also be medicine and it quite literally blew me away. And this all led me to study at the renowned CNM (College of Naturopathic Medicine).

02

So, what is Naturopathy?

Naturopathy is a complementary alternative medicine that looks at the whole mind, body and soul picture holistically. It’s an umbrella term encompassing therapies such as homeopathy, acupuncture, chiropractic, and many more holistic practises.

03

So, which one do you specialise in?

I specialise in naturopathic nutrition focusing on food as medicine, but always using science-backed, evidence-based protocols. At a biological level, a human cell needs a healthy mitochondrion - which is the battery within each cell - to aid energy metabolism with a careful balance of co-factors in micronutrients such as zinc, selenium, and B vitamins. These are very important for a healthy body. But we never ignore one’s ‘Vital Force’.

04

What is the 'Vital Force'?

The healing power of nature, or ‘Vital force’, is a non-tangible energy flow in and around the body. It may become imbalanced through the Western-style diet, though stress, or even through trauma. We believe that the body has an innate ability to heal itself and the practitioner, which is me, is facilitating this healing.

05

What methodology do you use?

There isn’t one-size-fits-all with health and just as it may take a person many years to fall into ill health, so then it takes time to untangle the causes of this imbalance. So, I would aim to work with a client preferably over a few months. An important consideration is that we are teachers and so as an educator I would want to make sure the client understands why they are experiencing symptoms and why my recommendations have been made.

06

How can this help me?

I can support a range of health conditions such as chronic fatigue, digestive complaints, like IBS or Crohn’s, maybe skin conditions such as eczema or acne, or perhaps low immunity. You may be getting frequent coughs and colds, have blood sugar dysregulation, allergies PCOS or hormonal imbalances. I may work alongside your GP to facilitate this change.

07

What does this process look like?

First, we’ll do some fact-finding including understanding your nutritional intake or deficits, and lifestyle habits. So, depending on the information in the case-taking, which can be quite in-depth and may include looking over a diary of what you are consuming within a five-day period, I will make food, and good quality supplement and lifestyle recommendations.

08

So, what happens next?

Well, I might pursue functional laboratory testing for blood, urine, or saliva samples. And if needed I will work with your GP to make them aware of the test results to investigation any red flags that might come up.

Discovery Call
(how can I go forward?)

You could schedule a free 20-minute discovery call on my website page. During the discovery call, I can take you through the packages I offer, from the initial one-off health MOT for guidance on your diet and guidance on your symptom picture. This is just a one-off. For clients that need extra support I offer a three and six-month package. We often see that longer packages work effectively because of the ongoing health coaching and deeper work needed.
